Post subject:  Torsion bar adjusting

Shouldn't it take more than a couple foot pounds to crank up a torsion bar? If mine's too lose, is there any way to make it tighter? I've raised that same side 2 or 3 times over a few years.

I'd try some red thread-locker - loc-tite or equivalent. Comes in a small tube at any auto parts store.

I'd use blue myself. red is really strong and if you ever needed to adjust or remove it would be really hard to get that bolt out

make sure its the bolt backing out and not the torsion bar continuing to twist up. had that happen to a vw buggy in the desert one time. torsion bar broke on the left and all we could find was a right one. had to adjust that thing about 6 times because it unwound and wound back up in the other direction.

there are companies that sell new adjusting bolts and blocks. maybe its time...
