Post subject:  Stock wheel sizes
An eBay seller has 14" x 4.5" SBP wheels. He lists that they are for:

Aspen '76
Barracuda, Cuda '69-'65
Dart, Demon '76-'65
Duster, Scamp '76-'65
Sport, Swinger '76-'65
Valiant, Volare '76-'65

1. Any problem with this list?

2. Are 14" x 5.5" wheels unheard of for these?

Aspen and Volare never had SBP.

14X5.5" were for 340 cars. :shock:

Not worth buying unless they're damn near free of charge. Too narrow.

Yep, it's completely wrong. Small-bolt wheels fit 1960-1972 Valiant (including Duster & Scamp) plus 1973-1974 with drum brakes, 1961-1962 Lancer, 1963-1972 Dart (including Demon) plus 1973-1974 with drum brakes, and 1964-1969 Barracuda. They do not fit '75-'76 A-bodies, nor do they fit any year F-bodies (Aspen, Volare).

Nope, they became available as optional equipment in '65, and were used as standard on certain car packages (e.g. Formula-S Barracudas and Duster/Demon/Dart 340s) but they are scarce any more. Wheel Vintiques or Stockton Wheel can make 'em for you.

I agree with the proposition that 4.5" wide wheels are too narrow. I think aready have some of those in my 13" wheels.

I guess the question for me is, what 14" wheels actually came standard on A-bodies with 4" bolt circles? Or, perhaps better, what is a good (and available) replacement 14" wheel for a 4" circle A-body that came with 13" wheels.

Or put yet another way, since more than one has said, "slap on some 14" wheels," what would be a logical and fruitful way of trying to do that?

Or lastly, how can I get rid of these tiny wheels without changing the entire suspension and do it on a small budget?

Any chance you could break that down into which had 14" wheels, which is what this guy is selling? I don't seem to be able to gather any information about 14" SBP's, let alone actual widths available.

Hope your search for wheels is easier where you live. I need two 14" X 5.0" stock steel wheels. The only yard close to me that has them wants $40 each. A yard about 35 miles away has them for $20 each, so will have to pick them up when I make a trip that way.

When I think of all the wheels that size that I threw away in cars I was junking, it makes me sick!

No, Mopar is the enemy in my area. The closest Mopar yard IS 35 miles and the next one 90.

And I'm still trying to find out what wheels to even look for if I drive that 90 miles. Some suggestions on here seemed to indicate that there were some 14" wheels on several cars with a 4 inch bolt circle.

Perhaps this is supposed to be some kind of initiation rite or whatever, but I've been asking (and searching the internet) ever since and can't get anyone to tell me what cars (if any) had these 14" SBPs or exactly what they were (width). I blew my money on an old Hollander manual, but apparently not old enough. They only talk GM in the older years.

I know that 14" SBP wheels were available on A-bodies in '64, but I'm not sure how many other years they were offered. Barracudas and V8-powered Darts and Valiants were the usual recipients of the 14' wheel.

Not until really late in the 1964 model year. Officially the first year for 14" wheel availability was 1965. For 1970, the 13" wheel was dropped and the 14" x 4½" wheel became standard equipment, with the 14" x 5½" plain or rallye optional.

Compared to the $75/ea these regularly go for on eBay, and the $135/ea they cost "refurbished" from e.g. Stockton Wheel, $40/ea is a bargain. And, they're either 4½" or 5½" wide, but not 5" wide (no such wheel).

I know they were available in April when the Barracuda was introduced. I was selling them at the time and our sales manager was a nut for performance. He ordered all our V8 Barracudas with 14" wheels.

Look closely at the vehicle model lines up at the tops of the columns in your FPC. The latter two wheels you list are big-bolt or extra-big-bolt (Imperial), not the small-bolt A-body wheels we're discussing here. 14" x 5.50" wheels were available for small-bolt and big-bolt.
