Someone posted that leaky windshield wiper seals can play havoc with yout floor panels. I can verify that with a capital "V." But I seem to have lost track of where I can get them. Help? |

Most of the time the wiper pivots are worn out. they actually can leak through them. I prefer to use umbrella type valve seals for a small block and some clear silicone to seal them. I have sone this to almost all of my A-bodies and i believe unless you are looking for a concours car this is the superior repair. Cheaper also. ________ Medical marijuana ________ MARIJUANA VAPORIZER |

H'mmm. Not sure I'd necessarily call this "superior", for it leaves two seal areas completely unaddressed, with crunchy and dead seals remaining in place. I do like your valve stem seal idea, but would probably do it in addition to replacing the actual pivot seals with the repair kit, which costs all of $11.

Quote: I think you misunderstand. there are no old seals left in place. for a gasket where they bolt to the body you can just silicone them or use gasket material.
If you're not replacing the foam "doughnut" seals, there are old seals left in place.

No under the wiper you seal with silicone. You use the valve seals in place of the wiper pivot seals. Get some hot water and drop the seals in to make them very pliable. put some clear silicone on the splined part of the pivot and on the pivot body. slip the valve seals over the pivot. wipe off excess and let dry. I read this in a mopar mag years ago and unlike most of their"streetable "cam recommendations this really worked well.![]() ![]() ![]() thanks a bunch, once I can get the floors dry I can start fixing them. Especially when you figure most gearheads already have spare valve seals and silicone. ![]() ________ Ferrari 248 f1 specifications ________ EXPATRIATE INSURANCE FORUMS |
