My past experience tells me I know the answer, but I'm checking on the outside chance. Put simply, once the turn signal switch in my '65 Valiant starts interfering with my brake lights is it all over? Or is there a chance I could clean it up and have it work again? I had a '67 Ford that went the wrong route. The brake lights started messing up. I cleaned the contacts and put it back together 2 or 4 times and each time I "fixed" it the symptoms got more confusing. Only a new $150 switch fixed it. Probably the same story here? Might as well save my effort? Or have some folks pulled it out of the hat? |

How good are you at wiring????????? If the turn signal function still works perfectly fine, I'd do the following....... Disconnect the brake line wire that goes into the turn signal switch. Now you have turn signals, but no brake lights. Run a separate brake light wire back to the trunk. Get one of those trailer light convertors that converts separate turn signal/brake light functions into the combined function of trailer lights.... Essentially your having the addon box do the combined light function not the turn signal switch, and as the box is transistorized, it won't have contacts to worry about........... (and I haven't done it on my car, but I did add one of these for my truck so the trailer lights would work) |

Good.

Dual problem. As of now the left rear turn signal usually works, (but not the left front) and working or not, when the lever's down the left brake light is dead. (Parks and right turn signals are fine.) Given that the rear works and the front doesn't, I guess I have to assume there are two separate contacts in the switch (the front signal lights up when hot-wired at the fire wall). I suppose I could move the front wire over and connect it to the rear wire, but if there are two separate contacts and a single light killed one, I can't see putting two on one contact.Of course I suppose there's a possibility there's a block problem, but there are no hot spots visible. Thanks. |

the turn signal switch isnt all that expensive... i got mine from advance auto here locally since they were the only place that could get a listing. it only cost $48 and i got it the next day. pretty easy install too. if you need a part # i might be able to find the box... better to fix it right then cob job the wiring, i learned the hard way... |

65 "A" body switch is entirly different then the ones of a 70" car. These are a lot harder to find and much more expensive.
