Hey Folks it's that time of year when the Best lookin' Chryslers flock to Central Pa! I talked to the new Director of events for the Chrysler event about a slant six class on the fun field. Again, I was turned down. There was a lot of intrest last year in the slant six class from people here and from Other folks that I spoke with last year at the actual event. I did My Best. So Far I will be going with my Dart(Provieded I do not break anything at Test n Tune) Brian Wil be there Phil Had mentioned going James longhurst - You goin? If you are going let me know, and Stop by the car and say HI. I will be in the Fun Field With the Modified A Bodies. Greg |

I'll be there Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday morning until it gets hot. I will probably be in the E-body area with my sister and brother in law and their 70 Barracuda convertable, bronze w/ white top and interior(it's not for sale). |

I spent VERY little time looking at the cars this year but from what I did see (Sorry I left the digi cam at home) aside from me and Greg there were at least 8 other slants there in varing states of tune. Now I dont know if it is just that the hoods are finally being opened that previously held to much embarassment or that there are actually over twice as many slants as there were last year, but it was really encouraging to me to see what appears to be an interest in what we have cherrished for so long. My brother in law Dan ( a diehardV8 man) found someone in authority there and was bending his ear about adding a /6 class in the future. Dan is really impressed with the way my car performs and has begun to entertain thoughts of finding a beater Duster to make into a race car and put a bottle on it. My search for polished aluminum slots was futile (mine are brushed aluminum and I would like mine to shine like a mirror but no dice). By the time I got through the entire swap meet looking through all the slots the pair of kelsey haynes brakes(spindles, calipers and rotors) I had found near the front marked $50 were gone. I settled for just a trunck latch pannel for $15. mine got tweeked when I introduced The Green Machine to the rear end of a honduh. My grill and lower grill support are fixable I think. I had a great time, got a killer tan and sore feet. |

Good for your deterimned brother in law - I would send a few emails to info@carlisleevents.com Just put "all chrysler nationals slant six class" in the subject line. I had plenty of folks that have max wedges / 440's and hemis come up to me and say They should build a six next time. (when I went through the awards parade, I uncorked the exhaust cutouts so people could hear the slant) That helped to raise awareness. A nice gentelman from jersey Had a spearment green early valiant with a clifford injection system and a Keisler 5 speed installed - Super nice Slant car. It's a rotrissie job and all Pics below I saw a bunch of slants - Even one in the Invitational building too. Nice to Meet Bruce Hockensmith, Rick Covalt and others. I too notice there are more slants at the show every year, and when people see that a car like mine can turn 15-14 seconds with one, people start to rethink the "six holed boat anchor" Greg |

We stayed at Western Village Campground. The same guy came over Friday and Saturday nights. he has a 64 Polara Max Wedge, and before he knew my Valiant had a slant he told us he is going to build up a slant in a 73 Duster. Then he wanted to know all about mine and hear it run it was really cool. I wanted to hear that Valiant run it was an awesome, clean build. I didn't bother to read the show winners since my car could never win, but it sounds like you did Greg? |

I saw the usual high priced slant performance parts. $200 for a beat up offy intake, $2,000 for the welded up original hyperpak intake, and $500 for a used clifford intake with headers. I just bought a never used Clifford intake for $85, so deals on these parts are out there, just not at Carlisle. Also saw at least 5 beat up super six intakes selling for $50- $75. Did anyone besides Greg & I see the Barracuda with the GM deisel turbo on it? Cool set up for a daily driver. He's running 9 lbs. of boost with a stock 2 Bbl. Says it gets 22 MPG. Carlisle is an awsome show, we just have to get them to do a all slant 6 class. |

Post subject: | Check this out folks - Maybe We can try this instead |
http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/guest/carclubs.asp Check out this link - If we can get 25 folks to pre- register and put slantsix.org on the reginstration info, we can kind of get our own class. If we do this I would like to get permission from Doug Dutra / Chuck Rivers / AArdvark Computer soultions to create a banner using The top page image. What do ya think? Greg |

Greg, thats a good idea, but all the pieces will have to fall into place. Having 25 slant 6 cars to preregister will be almost impossible. We have maybe 15 members who live in PA or even close to PA. Thats where the problem is. I know some of the slant 6 guys are willing to travel, but to get more people in from out of state Carlisle would have to list the class on its registration form. Word of mouth on this site may not be enough. Plus alot of people think there slant six car is not good enough to be in a car show. May sound negative, but thats my thought. |

We need to get this out on the MOPARTS and A-Body MOPAR web sites come next spring. I think More people would bring out their slants if they knew there would be a special class for them. I am sure several of the cars with closed hoods(mosly A-bodies) were slant powered. I believe 25 is a resonable number to achieve. |

Post subject: | Maybe a race?? |
If we could get a race out at South Mountain dragway on the schedule for Friday night, maybe some of the race guys would come up, race friday night, stay for the big Flea market , and show their cars on Saturday. That may help you achieve 25 cars a little easier. How cool would that be to have a big row of fast slant 6 cars in the show field!!! I can see people talking now. And this would be one of the biggest exposures the slant 6 community could get. Just a thought, Rick |

Great idea Rick, that would give me a reason to try out the 4.56's. South Mountain is an 1/8th mile strip. For some reason I always have it in my head that is Saturday night and miss it. |
