Post subject: | 7 1/4" Axle Seal Installation |
When I pulled the axles from a '64 7 1/4" rear, I noticed something. The axle seals on both sides of the car were installed with the lip (concave) side out, so you could see them. ![]() (New seal pictured. The old ones got mangled a bit on the way out) The flat faces were inboard. ![]() That ain't right, is it? By the way, they did not come out easily. One had been leaking a bit. |

Post subject: | Is that all you have to replace if you pull it? |
I want to pull the left rear axle on my 63 to put in right-hand wheel bolts/studs. I don't detect any unusual noises from the rear axle. Can I just replace this seal, or are there other parts to renew? |
