Post subject:  anyone use a wilwood conversion kit?

I'm running freshly rebuilt 9" drums all around on a 64' valiant. I like em fine for now, but when I put in a 200hp+ slant six I'm gonna wanna stop better. I'll have replaced all ball joints and bushings before I do this swap so a kit that works with the 9" spindles would be best. has any one used the willwood kit from summit? it doesn't specify if the stock brake hoses work and the kit doesn't come with any and it doesn't specify if it uses the 5 on 4 bolt pattern. I want 5x4 bolt pattern and 9" spindles. anyother kits that match those criteria?
thanks

The Wilwood brakes are 5x4.5" so that rules them out. Stainless Steel Brakes will sell you rotors that are drilled for both patterns, but you must have 10" drum spindles which means 10" drum uppper and lower ball joints and upper control arm too.

Scarebird has adapters to mount calipers to the 9" spindle for $95, but a lot more parts are required to complete the swap.

I just checked out the scarebird stuff. I'm gonna price out the the celebrity calipers and rotors tommorow. shouldn't be to hard for me to do that conversion and it fits my requirements. Anyone do that swap on an A body?

I don't see instructions for the 9" drum spindle conversion. I think you'll need to call. To the best of my knowledge only A bodies came with 9" drums and the 4" bolt circle.

If you check out his latest ebay auction you can download the instructions in a WORD document.

Good deal! Finally decent brakes without replacing the whole front end. Although the $200 '76 Duster parts car I got was still a cheaper way to convert my '67 Valiant and it got me a sway bar to boot.
