Post subject:  Won't start after storage

Hi,
Have a 225 in my Australian truck. The truck has been sitting in my garage and been having various things done to it over the past year.
When I stopped starting teh truuck and moving it around it was running fine.
Now, it will not start. I have been through the wiring and it all seems correctly wired.
The problem is that I have about 5v at the coil when cranking, obviously inadequate. I am managing to get a spark out of it, and it is hitting occasionaly ona cylinder, but won't catch.
The ballast resistor, coil, plugs, cap and rotor are all new (but been sitting for a while with the rest of teh truck).
Now, regarding teh ballast resistor, this is a points system with a single ballast. Is there supposed to be a source of switched 12v that bypasses the ballast when cranking, to fatten up voltage to the coil? I have around 6v coming out of the ballast on teh coil side and about 8v coming into the ballast. I should have around 12v at the other side of the ballast?

Regards, Andrew.

That's a problem. You should have a good 12v into the ballast. You'll need to trace wires until you find the short or weak connection.

There is on the models that I own, (see my signature below) but I don't know the specifics of your truck.

Thanks, kind of confirms things for me. I haven't spent a lot of time with points, I grew up with Chryslers electronic ignitions.

Regards, Andrew.
