| Post subject: | Which Gasket Kit |
Hi Folks, I'm going to be pulling my slant out of my '68 Dart so I can paint the engine compartment along with the rest of the car. While it's out I thought I would take care of the oil leaks with some gasket changes... an engine rebuild comes next year. So, while it's out, I'm thinking I should change: -valve cover gasket -oil pan gasket -rear main seal -timing cover gasket Am I missing anything... and can anyone reccomend a good gasket kit that covers these departments? Thanks as always - Mac |

I think the only kit you can get that has valve cover and rear main is probably going to be a full engine set, which will be more expensive as it comes with head gasket. Doesn't sound like you will be seperating the head from block. You can buy the gaskets individually. Felpro makes a rubber valve cover gasket that works well. Last I checked the rubber ones were still availible from mopar as well. Don't forget the dampner/timing cover seal. |

I had to swap out the head on the '67 a while back...for $15 more than the head kit made by Fel-Pro I could get the engine gasket kit from Autozone, so I just buy that one and save the other gaskets for some rainy day refresh project....The Felpro set number for pre-81 slants is the "KS2103". -D.Idiot |
