Post subject:  Cam I.D. Help

I just purchased a fresh short block from my Snap-On guy of all people. he did'nt know to much about it but it is a 69 - 75 block casting, bored 60 over. It has a cam installed but I have no idea what it is. The only #'s on the thing are 942 336. If anyone knows what this cam is I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again for the help, you guys are the best!

The odds are extremely good that this short block has a stock '71-'80 cam in it (244° - 244° - 26° - 0.414"), since that is the only type that's been generally sold as a stock replacement cam for '60-'80 slant-6s for many years now.

Turned block upside down today and shaft of cam is purple. I know mopar makes a Purple Shaft cam, but are all mopar manufactured camshafts purple?

Yes, any Mopar Performance (Direct Connection or what ever they now call the after market Mopar performance part group) cams were painted purple.
