Post subject:  Valve Cover Bolt Torque

Is there a torque specification for the valve cover bolts, I don't seem to find any specified in the service manual.

I could not find anything in several good books.
Alot depends on the type of gasket used, its more of a feel thing.
Be sure to clean out your bolt holes, so the bolts dont premeturly bottom out,
or your cover wont seal.

Im sure someone here can be a bit more exact.

According to my 1966 FSM, Cylinder head cover bolt... 40 in.-lbs.

Get a nut driver and tighten to hand tight that is how us rednecks do it . About 40 in lbs. :D Thanks Ron Parker

Thanks for the information, I have always just tightened until it "felt right".
