I want to make the slant 6 in my 68 Barracuda more powerful. I don't want to drag race with it, but I want more horse power than stock. I have a new Holly 390 cfm 4bbl, a 4bbl manifold, and I hope to buy a set of headers from Doug Dutra. I want some ideas on what parts will work well together , and with my parts, to accomplish my goal. |

I think a little more rear end gear say a 3.55 would be good for a daily driver if no long trips ie 200 miles. I would try to talk to Dart270 Lou he has a fine daily driver and is quick at the strip for a camshaft selection and other mods . Thanks Ron Parker It Aint Over Until I Win |

Thanks Ron. mbwetzel, can you tell us more about what you want to do with the car (daily driver, occasional strip use, mostly cruising/carshows) and what your budget is for engine/drivetrain/whole car? What kind of car would you like it to compare to, acceleration/performance-wise? These are all critical for component selection. Lou |

I want is a car that I can drive around town if I want, but also I want to be able to drive it to car shows in other states without breaking down. |

Right now your car if it's in great condition and not burning oil would fit the bill... For more power, just having the head redone, shave a little bit off, midly port the bowls (new seats and guides), and putting the 4 barrel on with dutra duals would be the difference between night and day in power. Little things add up a lot though, tune up, change to bigger exhaust, using EI instead of points can go a long way (don't get hooked on the power though, unless you have some money saved -D.Idiot |
