 Upon further inspection of my rebuilt '73 forged crank block, I noticed CHINA was stamped on each freeze plug. Does this mean necessarily that ALL the parts in the kit were likely made in China, or just the freeze plugs? Are there any companies (mail-order, etc.) left who only use domestic manufactured parts? Whatever happened to "Made in the Good Ol' USA"????

Probably not. To illustrate, I once pulled a wheel cylinder off a shelf and the label was marked "Made in China." The box was marked "Made in Singapore." The part, however, was stamped "Made in USA." Where did it actually come from? Your guess is as good as mine.There was a thread about this quite a while back, and iirc, one person posted a picture of an item marked w/ 5 countries of origin. |
