Does anyone have a source for the right side motor mount for my 63 Valiant /6? I got the drivers side from Advanced Auto, but no one seems to have the right side. Mine has deteriorated and has separated. Thanks. |

Pat, I had the same thing happen. Advance had the left but not the right. Somehow we started looking in to it and found that the book had a bad #. We looked at similar #s and it was one digit off, if I remember correctly. I think I have the box ends somewhere. I'll look and reply if I can find them. |

I sure had problems with motor mounts recently. A friend of mine works at an auto repair and has a press, I ordered just the inserts. One insert(the right), was fine and pressed in. The left however wasn't quite right, but fit. He went ahead and pressed in the left one so I could install my engine and ordered another insert. Since the left is easy to get to, I thought I would just get a better one later and replace it.Anyway, he got about four or five of them, all wrong, all the same part number from diffferent sources. I then ordered a complete left side motor mount from Kragen (partsamerica). When it came in, it looked like a cassette that had been sitting on a dashboard in the Sun. I couldn't believe it, it was all warped and one of the mounting holes was a big oblong shape. Not made in China, but India. So, I still need to get a left side. Maybe I will try Advance Auto. I would like to get a quality one made in the USA though. |

I would appreciate that Larry. RDJ, Advance had to order it and it took about 5 days and the cost was about $25. FYI |

R/H mounts are no longer available in the aftermarket. L/H mounts will soon "dry up", as well. Anchor numbers were 2303 L/H and 2304 R/H. BUT! Imperial Services is in final stages of tooling for really nice polyurethane left and right mounts, made in America, with internal lock plates, for '62-'66 A-bodies with slant-6s! Just got off the phone with Steve over there, and it surely sounds as if these are going to be the excellent-quality upgrade mount we've been after for quite a few years for these cars. That's the good news. The bad news is that in all likelihood they won't be shipping until 1/07, so until that time you'll have to figure out something to get by. You can probably make fit an Anchor 2264 mount ($5 cheapie from Malaysia, buy from RockAuto or your local source), that is the R/H mount for '67-'72 A-bodies. You may have to cut off one of the three studs ('62-'66 mount has only two studs) and depending on comparative thickness of the mounts, you may need to shim the 2264 with some plywood or other suitable material. FYI - you can already get the left mount in poly. Or if you are blessed and have a truck that uses the same mounts on both sides (same as a small block V8 ) you can get both left & right mounts. http://www.polybushings.com/pages/2469.html I have a set (not yet installed) and they look to be very nicely constructed pieces. -S/6 |

Mmmmmnope! Not suitable for the RH side of any slant-6 A-body, and not designed for the '62-'66 A-body (as needed). That's a '67-'72 A-body LH-side mount (also fits other applications due to "adaptive" construction).

Since this is a stock engine w/auto and I have no fan shroud or anything that would break if the engine moves a little, I'll wait for Imperial. I put them on my "favorites" list and I'll bug them from time to time to keep the interest up. If it gets worse I can always resort to a chain and turnbuckle, I guess. Thanks for the info. |
