Just got the mini starter from salvage yard and brought it home. Tried to test it using a charged battery not in a vehicle. Grounded the case to the neg. and using a large cable applied power to the large terminal. Nothing as I expected. At the same time applied power to the small terminal and still had power to large and gear jumps out but not turning. Applied power many times and it then started turning. Disconnected and reconnected many time and seems to work normally. But sometimes it jumps out but does not turn. I am sure about the connections.
Is it time to rebuild the contacts in this starter and if so could someone link me to a step by step.

Yep, time to put in new contacts. Step-by-step with P/Ns is here.
