Post subject:  quest re. Summit and Jegs fuel gage resistance figure

Hi Yall,

It got so hot yesterday I went inside and read car parts catalogs. I like the look of the fuel gages in Jegs and Summit but wonder what is this figure the quote of "pre-1989 Chrylser 73-12 ohm" fuel gage. Is this workable with the senders mentioned recently in fuel tank/gage threads?

Thanks

Post subject:  About right...

I'm not sure what other models had problems with their senders or the range...I know with the new tank unit, and the soon to install AutoMeter gauge the test on the tank unit inidicated a range of 75-10 ohms when swept from "full" to empty"

My autometer gauge has read similar to stock gauge.

The problem is with the senders - I tried both a Mopar one and two aftermarket spectra units. They both read proper empty and full, but the scale in the middle is way off compared to my original stock one. I went as far as cutting a hole in the side of a garbage can and filling it with various levels of water to compare the senders and none came close to the original scale. I'll probably end up going back to my original one. YMMV though, there are several accounts on both sides of the story.
