I am swapping my slant in a few months with another one... it's already built

stock rebuild with 60 thousand os cast pistons this will be my test engine for my turbo project.... still need to send the head out for a proffesional job

why I am asking about the rods is because if this test engine goes as planned... the engine that I'll pull out of my car will be balanced, going with forged pistons (cox bros) etc etc

but the rods price are scaring me $1000+... but these will be almost bulletproof

I am shooting for 300hp

will stock rods with arp bolts hold on or will they probably fail over time?

I"ll be swapping to auto trans too but these question I'll post into the trans section...

my car is getting like ms windows never ending upgrades

Stock rods will be fine unless you want to rev it to 8000.

I have been using 198 rods forever. 350+ horse on nitrous, 6200 rpm, no rod problems. :D

$1000 for rods! Ouch! That's over $150 each. Have your stock rods shot peened and fitted with ARP bolts and they will be fine at the 300hp level. Make sure you personally inspect each rod before and after the work is done. I took apart 3 small blocks not long ago and none had 8 good rods. Most were rejected due to the pin hole being off center. I had to pick and choose between the three sets, had the decent ones fitted with ARP bolts, resized and balanced.

If I wanted my connecting rods shot peened, where do I take them and how much does it cost?

Any machine shop that does performance work can shot peen. Probably cost a few bucks/rod in addition to the resizing/balancing costs.
