i hit a bump. i heard a grinding noise. hit another bump. it went away. jacked the car up and i saw wear marks against the caliper and the wheel. so i take it in and my mechanic tells me that the plate that you mount the caliper to is missing a flange that holds that caliper in place. does this jive with you all? and could i fix that flange with some jb weld? i haven't had time to look at it personally but theoretically i think i could. |

Chances are you lost one of the small spring steel plates that holds the caliper to the caliper stand. There are two of these plates for each caliper and are held down with 5/16" bolts. Go look for yourself. |

Let's assume that he means the caliper adapter. As Joshie said, check the retaining plates first.Quote: ... and could i fix that flange with some jb weld?
No.If the adapter is actually broken, find out why it broke. Correct the problem, and replace the adapter. |
