Now that I've got a mechanical temperature gauge as a back-up to the factory electrical, I find it interesting to watch the temps rise after I turn the engine off. The mechanical sender is mounted on the top tank of the radiator. I realize that, when the engine is shut down, the coolant is no longer circulating through the system, but I've never noticed a big change in temp with the stock electric gauge (when I restart after a few minutes). Admittedly this is Texas, and we're in the middle of a little heat wave (100+ temps), but I never realized the temp would climb to 210-215 degrees when the engine's shut off. Is this typical, or an indication of a problem? Thanks! VM |

I don't have a calibrated gauge, but my 225 can peg the needle after good long drive and a short stop. Heat wave? Bah. It's just summer. |

Y'know, I've lived here all of my 40-year life, but I've NEVER gotten used to 100+ degrees. And besides, the heat makes working on cars MISERABLE.(Although doing the same in January when it's 70 degrees outside is nice!) VM |

It's perfectly normal for the engine temp to rise after shutting the engine off. Heat wave? Wanna trade? |
