My A-833 OD Shift linkage leaks. Is there an additive I can put in to slow it down until I can rebuild the thing? I also noticed some leakage around the Reverse lever. Do I have to take the whole assembly apart to replace the O-ring on the reverse arm? The shift arm seals can be replaced without pulling the transmission, but the reverse arms require the complete disassembly of the transmission. That is what it look like to me.

Comments? Suggestions?

You already know what needs to happen the little O-rings hve gone bye-bye and there's nothing short of replacing them to stop it. Replacing the O-rings is easier if you get the tranny to a bench since replacing the side plate is almost a two person job during reassembly.

I just went to the hardware store and picked up a bunch for my trans'es - I believe they are 1/2" o rings, and I will be ading a bit of black gasket maker to the o ring slot on the setup when I reassemble them as well.

Is it better to take just the gearbox off or the bellhousing and all?

It's easier to take the gear box off unless you need to also replace the clutch. If you have a tranny jack or a strong buddy, it's relatively easy to slap the tranny back in and put the 4 bolts into place.
One thing you will want to add to your tool box eventually is an input shaft from any mopar car 3 or 4 speed (most junkyards don't care about the column shift trannies and you can swipe one out of there...), these make the best clutch disk alignment tools.
