If you followed my "parts are time to get cracken thread" you know I just rebuilt my front suspension. I couldn't resist taking it out for an extended test drive this afternoon, even though it hadn't been aligned. it handles 400% better even with the alignment off and no sway bar, yet. it rides 200% better even though it sits a 1/4 of an inch off the bump stops!!! and doesn't feel as though it bottoms out. I'm running .890 torsion bars. the stance of the car is now perfect. but I dont understand how the car doesn't bottom out riding so close to the bump stops. I think the ride quality is much better. any thoughts? I wish I knew how to post my before and after pics. (I'll try but I warn you they are high res.) |

Depends where the bumpstops are in relationship to the wheels and A-arm pivots....... If the bumpstops are next to the wheels, 1/4" would be your suspension travel before contact. If the bumpstops are halfway between the wheel and the A-arm pivot then 1/4" till bumpstop contact would be 1/2" at the wheel..... So, you do the math and you can figure out how much wheel movement there is when there is 1/4" movement at the bumpstop. |

they're pretty close to the pivot. so I guess that would give 1/2" to 3/4" travel. never thought of it like that. thanks Ed. |
