I had massive amounts of oil leaking out of my inspection plate, and the back of the motor. At first i thought it was the oil pan, so i sealed that up, but it still leaked. So i went all out and replaced the rear main seal and the oil pan gaskets. Still leaks out of the inspection plate. Im lost. Any ideas? I read on one of the pieces of paper that came with the main seal that the seals would swell when exposed to normal operating temp. but i drove for probably 20 min and it still leaks. Thanks.

IF your oil comes from the rear main seal, I strongly suggest you go with a felpro rubber rear main seal (is the same as for chrysler big blocks)

If not, you might be dealing with the converter's seal (on the front of the trans pump)

oil is motor oil or reddish auto trans fluid?

Well my truck is a 3 spd manual so its not tranny oil. Plus i already replaced the main seal with a felpro rubber seal but it still leaks. I had the idea that it might be the freeze plug on the oil gally, is this reasonable? Thanks

Sources of oil out the rear of the engine:
Oil Pan gasket.
Rear main seal.
Swedge plug (freeze plug) for the rear cam bearing hole.
Pipe plug for the main oil gallery.

Oil Pan gasket and rear main seal installation needs to be done carefully to prevent leaks.

What is the oil pipe plug and where exactly is it located?
