i recently bought a 1967 dodge dart, i've always loved that car and i got it for a steal. the car runs but the engine is leaking oil and the radiator is leaking coolant causing it to over heat. i want to rebuild the engine but im having trouble finding parts for it... i thought it might be cheaper to buy another engine but i've been having trouble with that too..i think the transmision needs rebuilding too, it's kinda slugish... other than that, the body is ok, and it has minimal rust... the "TEMP" and "FUEL" gauges dont work.. i dont know how to fix them, i checked the fuses but they are fine, also the gauge light dont work... it is missing a fender trim that i can't find anywhere.. can anyone tell me where to find parts for this engine, and what would i need to change on it? THANX...

sorry for the previous color, i didn't realize it was that bright...

Hello and welcome!

First, as a matter of ettiquette and politeness, please do not type in all caps. It is the internet equivalent of yelling.

Second, please don't post using lime green text for the entire post. It hurts to look at.

Rebuild kits can be purchased through Performance Automotive Warehouse as well as a few other places. Individual components can be bought at most parts stores, but I recommend Napa.

If you buy anotherengine you will need to find a pre 1968 engine. In 68 the crankshaft changed hub diameter and you will need to use a 67 and earlier crank to mate with your 67 transmission.

Radiators are getting hard to find (cheap) for 60s era darts and valiants. Manyu people have had success adapting a radiator from a later model Aspen, Volare, Diplomat, Fifth Avenue or Gran Fury to their Darts and valiants.

It sounds like you need to spend some time going through your wiring harness. You absolutely must get a factory service manual and use the factory iring diagrams to traces your circuits. You car has been on the road for 40 years. WHo knows what previous owners have done to the dash wiring.

Welcome aboard the Slanted Train! These cars are really pretty simple, subtle machines, and rewarding to work with. The quirks are known and info is readily available right here.

Parts are readily available at most parts stores (NAPA, Advance, etc). Better parts, and some of the odd ones take a little research, some calling, or shopping online. Rock Auto (www.rockauto.com) is OK, and lets you look up part numbers online for shopping elsewhere. Restoration and performance parts are available from the likes of Year One, The Paddock, Mancini Racing, AREngineering, Laysons, etc.

When the temp and fuel gauges don't work, it's often an indication of the instrument voltage regulator (IVR) having gone bad. It's easily replaced or upgraded to a solid-state piece.

Suggestions:

Spend some time reading the articles in this forum.
Get the factory service manual for your car.
Use the forum's search funtion for specific issues. Most of what you will run into has been discussed in detail here, and good advice (and spirited discussion) abound.
Take photos, and let us see your car!
