This trans was pulled from a 68 dart that didn't have the orignal slant. Can we tell what year this trans is? Numbers on bellhousing read- 871-2 both sides http://www.renaissanceracing.com/images/Trans904.JPG http://www.renaissanceracing.com/images ... erSide.JPG |

The trans ID is stamped on the driver's side of the pan rail. Clean all the grease and gunk off the side of the rail, indicated by the green arrows in the photo below, and report what you find: ![]() |

That there is an early-production 1966-model A904G originally used behind a 225 engine. |

The big red X on the bellhousing- whats that all about? Not orignal? |

"X" marks the spot! It means you found the treasure! Seriously though, who knows? Most factory markings I have seen were made with grease pencil, not spray paint. That tranny has been floating around for 40 years. Who knows where that X came from or what it means. |

I think I found a large input shaft A904 that will work in my 67 Barracuda with large crank flange. PK4028405 57028220 What do you think? Can I use the input shaft in my 67 A904? |

Is the input shaft in this transmission (PK4028405 57028220) A large input shaft type? It is bolted to a 1972 225, which makes me beleive there is a very good possability that it is. If so will it swap in to this small input shaft transmission (2538337Y 2017190)? Which is an early-production 1966-model A904G. |
