ok pulled the front drums off yesterday to repack the wheel bearings and found out that they were 10in drums, but i have a small bolt pattern. i thought that 10in were for the big bolt pattern! i would like to find a set of discs but since thease are one step down from discs(which are really hard to find around here) and one step up from the 9 in drums, if i found a set of 10 bigbolt pattern drums could i swap just the drums and get the bigger bolt pattern? *note this is on the front i realize i will still need different axles for the rear* |

10" A-body drums are all small bolt pattern. If you want large bolt pattern wheels you might as well go with '73-'76 disc brakes. |

I think they just might. The bearings are the same and the shoes are both 2 1/2" wide even though the A-body uses a 332 shoe and the B-body uses 333. You're well ahead of most people as you already have 10" brakes with the larger upper ball joint. What can't you find for disc brakes where you live? Also you can't just swap axle shafts in the back to get the larger bolt pattern. Your options depend upon what rear axle you have under the car. |

well i know where there is one car but the probl;em is getting there and getting the parts. yea i realized that i need to get the right axles and everything depending on the rear end. i was going to find a b-body 8.75 housing and cut the spring perches off and relocate them to make it fit the springs |

The parts problem doesn't seem to be insurmountable if all it takes is going and pulling the parts. I have a B-body rear end under my '72 Swinger and it's too wide. I have 17x8" Mustang wheels with +30mm offset and it's not enough with the '69 B-body axle. If I wanted to run highly offset wheels (FWD type offset) it would work, but then I'd need different front and rear wheels. I have a Ford Granada 8" rear end I could use, but no limited slip differential for it. So I'm back to cutting down my C-body housing and pickup axles so I can use my 8 3/4 gears and Sure-Grips. If you are interested and ever get to the Vancouver, WA area I'd be happy to sell the Ford 8" rear end. You wouldn't even need to have your driveshaft shortened. PM me if you're interested. |

what are you using for springs? i think the SS springs will raise up the rear enough to use the b-body rear end. ther was a moparaction(could have been mopar muscle) that used the b-body axle in an abody.im in selah, wa. near yakima, and the cars with the discs is in prosser. |

I don't go for the jacked up stink bug look as it kills handling. My '72 Swinger actually has Mopar Performance circle track springs in the back and .990" torsion bars. You can use a B-body rear axle, but get one from a '66-'67 as they are narrower and you'll still need a positive offset wheel to keep it under the body where it belongs. Even with +30mm offset Mustang wheels and the '66-'67 axle the tire is closer to the fender than the spring. |
