Small Bolt Pattern (SBP) and Large Bolt Pattern refers to the diameter of an imaginary circle that passes through the lug bolts. Once you see them both, you will be able to determine by sight. The simple way to measure is find the distance from the center of one lug to the outer edge of the one opposite it. SBP should measure 4" diameter and LBP should measure 4-1/2", hence the terms "5 on 4" and "5 on 4-1/2" (the "5" refers to the number of lugs.) Disk brakes on the front of my son's '74 Dart Sport were swapped over from a '76 Duster, and they are LBP. Someone else here will have to address your question of which years had the various lug patterns. Jerry |

'73 was the first year for the large bolt pattern disc brakes. That's 5 on 4.5" bolt circle. |
