Post subject:  Sandblasting Front End Parts

I've been working on upgrading the 9" drums in my 1965 Barracuda to disc brakes from a 1973 Duster. With everything apart now, I was thinking about sandblasting the upper control arms (and rear axle while I'm at it) to clean them up before I paint them.

The ball joints and bushings are out of the control arms now so I'm concerned that the sand might wear away the holes and make the new upper ball joint and bushings fit loosely.

Has anyone done this before and, if so, have you encountered any problems?

I've sandblasted both U & LCAs before without any problems. I just keep the sand away from the bushing and ball joint areas as much as possible.

i've done several sets of both with no issues. the last few were in a blast cabinet loaded with skat-blast abrasive. no problem.

After you sandblast the parts, I'd either powdercoat them (if you're rich) or coat them with POR-15 or the Eastwood equivalent.............
