The Radiator on our 64' Dart is shot. Is this an easy to find part? Carquest had 5 different Part Numbers. The car is a pushbutton 225. Does this make any real difference beyond the tranny cooler being built into the Radiator?

Would anyone know where to Get a NOS radiator? My wife is really big into NOS parts. Re coring or repairing the stock one would be out of the question based on it's condition. What other Mopar radiators Fit a 64 Dart?

No, there are no off-the-shelf radiators available for '64 A-bodies. The bracket configuration was changed in '65 when the radiator support panel cutout was enlarged to accommodate not only the 19"-wide slant-6 radiator but also the 22"-wide V8 item. The '65-up 19" radiators have an extra-wide driver's side bracket that covers up the extra width of the cutout. The '64-down radiators have no such extra-wide bracket, because the rad support cutout on '64-down cars is configured to accept only the 19" radiator. You can modify (cut off the extra from) the extra-wide '65-up bracket to wind up with a 19" radiator that will fit, so that's one solution.

Automatic-trans radiators, in addition to having the built-in fluid cooler, have higher-capacity radiators to deal with the greater heat loads created by the hot trans fluid.

Define "fit". Pretty much any 19"-wide slant-6 A-body radiator can be made to fit your '64 by modifying brackets and using different radiator hoses. Original-style direct-fit is '63-'64 A-body only.

Another option is an all-aluminum radiator. What to buy depends on how your car is equipped and where you live (how heavy-duty of a cooling system do you need?) and how big a budget you have.

My '64 Valiant now has a '76 Volare/Aspen down-flow slant six radiator. Installation required drilling new mounting holes, a different top hose, and a radiator cap without a lever (Because of the height difference).

I am in the same boat you are with my 66 Val. Has anyone bought a radiator from Layson's Restorations? I have been on their web site and called and talked to them. They say their radiators are special order and take about 3 to 6 weeks to be built. They also said the top tank is round like the original and you can get them in three core. They are not cheap, about three hundo. I priced getting mine recored by Performance Radiator, 340 BUCKS!! for just a original two core. So I pulled the top tank off and rodded the cores out with a dipstick so I can get to Portland this weekend. I hope it holds :?

It is most likely that Layson does not have these made specifically for him. It is more likely he buys them and marks them up. The trick, then, is either finding the source or finding an outlet *closer* to the source. That said, $300 for a brand-new radiator is not out of line.

I ve got a radiator out of my 67 Barracuda. Worked great until I added A/C and changed the fan to make it fit. In stop and go traffic in Orlando it ran warm. Once up to speed the temp came back down.
I ve been thinking about Ebaying the radiator but don't really know what is worth. (maybe $175 -$200)?

Maybe closer to $40 to $60.

Really? For a genuin great condition correct radiator? The Ebaying to me is a big pain. (the selling part) I sold the heater box last week. Made $6. I think I ll keep it.

I bought a core radiator out of a 67 Barracuda and had it recored to a 3 core ($300). Go to fit it in my 65 Dart and find that it's TOO tall!! I assumed it would fit and so made an A$$ out of me. I guess besides being recored, the best thing about it is I have the factory fan shroud to go with it!! Would anybody know if this radiator/shroud would fit any 67-76 A Body?

That'll be a direct fit in '67-'70 A-bodies, and an easy modifit in '71-'76 A-bodies.

The OEM radiator in my '66 V100 doesn't look like the OEM in my '68 V200. The bottom hose neck is a different angle. I didn't know the '66 was shorter also.
Neither have fan shrouds, nor are they AC cars. Are shrouds only on AC, and possibly HD cooling, cars?
One thing I noticed about aftermarket radiators, they don't seen to cool as well as a god OEM of the same size. Could this be due to less cooling fins per sq in? Or a lesser tube count per in? As with most other parts, I assume there's a poor, good and best radiator and core available.

Dependent on core thickness, number of rows of tubes, number of fins per inch, number of tubes per inch, quality of materials and build.
