I am just in the process of adding a leaf to the spring packs on my 72' Swinger. The zinc plates between the leaves are in pretty tough shape. Do they need to be there? What are they supposed to do? Are they still available ![]() |

They're to protect against rust. I'm pretty sure they are still available - leaf spring shops should have them if your local auto parts store and the restoration supply houses don't. |

They're anti-squeakers. Most current ones are plastic, and the spring shop will install new ones if they're a quality operation. |

Just picked up my new leaf. Guy at the spring shop said I don't need them, they don't install them in any of their springs, the zinc ones for sure, don't know about plastic. It's raining now so I will wait till it's a little dryer to put them in. Anything else I could put in there? |

Guy at the spring shop needs to be smacked and told to stop being lazy and cheap. Leaf interliners are there for a reason. Take 'em back and make him put them in.

Thanks Dan. I'll have to see what I can do next week, I'm working till Wednesday now. For now I'm gonna clean up the the old ones and rebuild the packs, I need this thing out of the driveway and back on the road. It's not that hard to pull them again if I find the right stuff. |
