Post subject:  OT: WHoo caravan emissions test PASSED!

Recall I posted here with serveral questions about my plymouth Voyager's carb, etc well. Here's the latest results:

ALL this took was NEW catalyst converter (was rendered dead by previous owner who fiddled with carb to get engine running on leaky manifold gasket) and muffler (old muffler guts was rotted out).

Curb idle test:

HC ppm 24 (limit 300) PASS
CO % 0.00 (limit 1.50) PASS
NOX ppm N/A
RPM 1020 VALID
dilution 12.2 VALID

ASM2525 TEST (40KM/h)
HC ppm 18 (limit 105) PASS
CO % 0.00 (limit 0.75) PASS
NOX ppm 519 (limit 1192) PASS
RPM 2027 VALID
Dilution 12.9 VALID

The first E-Test result that failed was:

Idle:

HC 232 (limit 300) pass
CO 2.16 (limit 1.5) fail
NOX n/a
RPM 888 valid
Dilution 12.15 valid

40KM/H:

HC 101 (limit 105) pass
CO 1.06 (limit 0.75) fail
NOX 1375 (limit 1192) fail
RPM 1979 valid
Dilution 12.33 valid

AND I'm crying in happiness now Tulip have set of brand new license plates!

Cheers, Wizard

Good work. Your NOx is still pretty high; I'm betting your combustion chambers are well carboned-up from running with the faulty carb. Run a can or two of BG 44K through it.

Post subject:  Yes.

Did one combustion chamber cleaned with can of acdelco's GM cleens brand before catalyst converter was replaced.

Will another cleaning cycle harm the new catalyst converter?

Remember, decent combustion cleaners is limited in canada, ontario.
I'll try NAPA for seafoam. Is there other brands that is as good?

Side note: the 2.2 head was changed before I got van with fast burn head so this bumped up the compression ratio slightly, like a point or so.

Post subject:  Dan, Ohhh!

Oh thanks!

Now I know WHERE get BG 44K, I'm surprised some dealers carries these
and only one that's non-dealer is Car Medics.

KIA not far from where I work, I'll walk over there and grab a bottle of BG 44K.

:)

In awhile, I'll need your lighting stuff, The 3057A bulbs jobbers carries is blowing too easily.

Cheers, Wizard

Go over to your nearest Saturn dealer and pick up a pair of front park/turn/DRL bulbs for an '04 Saturn Ion. Bulb number is 5702KA. Direct replacement for the 3057A / 3157A, but with super ultra mega long life.

Post subject:  Oh, I forgot, what about the 3057 (clears for taillights)?

Dan,

That's wonderful.
Question in subject line as usual. Clear 3057 bulbs

Talking about emissions, this are my emissions:

Stage 5024

HC ppm: 179
CO%: 1.80
CO2: 13.2
CO+CO2: 15.1
O2%: 0.2
NOX ppm: 1181
kph: 24.6
HP Load: 13.3

Stage 2540

HC ppm: 142
CO%: 1.93
CO2: 13.2
CO+CO2%: 15.1
O2%: 0.3
NOX ppm: 1075
kph: 39
HP Load: 7.5

This lectures are below modern cars in emissions, technician was suspicious about my Duster readings, he said "they very low for a old car"
what do you say people?
