Ok of these 3 rears which tends to be the lightest?? The ford 9,chrysler 8.75,or the gm 12bolt??? |

They are all heavy. I don't think 40 lbs seperates the lightest from the heaviest. You're going to have a hard time finding weights for these as they vary due to different lengths and such. What is your goal for the rear end other than light weight? What kind of use in what kind of car? |

All else being equal the 12 boltcould be the lightest.....but there are the aluminum variants...etc etc. If its behind a slant consider Ford 8", Dodge 8.25, Chev 10bolt 8.6....all lighter and strong enough for a slant. Want crazy light? go for an aluminum carrier Dana 35 from a Grand Cherokee....3.23 gears...limited slip...rear disc |

The application will be a slant for my 66 cuda dragcar which should push around 375-400 horsepower when completed ![]() |
