Post subject:  New Dart upholstery (pics!)

I just picked the Dart up from the upholstery shop yesterday, and despite the work having cost major money, I haven't quit grinning. It is absolutely GWAHGEOUS, as my late father would've said. This one change has radically transformed the whole feel of the car. It's taken it past the tipping point. You know what I mean: A car can deteriorate, little by little, and you don't notice or care, really, until you hit the tipping point and suddenly "Geeze, this car's in pathetic shape". OR, going the other direction as in this Dart's case: You put effort, money and time into a car, not necessarily in that order, and while everything you do makes some improvement, you complete one particular repair and all of a sudden "WOW, what a great car!".

The guy did a stellar, beautiful, better-than-perfect job. The seats look new and feel amazingly comfortable given that they're just benches. The rattles that came from displaced springs are GONE, leaving no discernible rattles inside the car. I'm raving, I know, I can't help myself. I was stuck in godawful traffic all the way home from the shop, but I was still grinning.

Here're pics. Everything that looks like a flaw is a reflection of the camera flash.

That's beautiful!

I may have to use that as inspiration when I put some late model bucket seats in my Dart - I want to have a local shop redo them and give them a '60s vibe.

Have you ever listened to a radio talk show over time and developted a picture in your mind of what the host looks like or what there age is? Then meet them later and they look nothing like you thought.
I think this is the case with SSDan. All this time I am thinking maybe 50 years plus. For many reasons but mostly because the wealth of knowledge. But now "it peanut butter jelly time" What the hell is this. I must be way off base. :? :?:

I would've gone black with just red accents (like the tubing or tubing and stitching), but still, that's hot man. They did some really nice work.

I've done some of my own upholstery in the past (self taught), and I'm getting to the point of wanting to get patterns and materials and make my own seat covers. It's pretty fun, not overly hard, and very satisfying work.

Dare I ask how much it cost you?
