You need A body pedals and hump. Most everything else will work fine. You keep your original A-body crossmember. |

Yes, the auto trans crossmember will work. You'll likely need an A-body Z-bar, but I'm not 100% certain. On my '66 Dart I had to bolt in the body-side Z-bar pivot and modify the bellhousing side pivot so it was higher. Since your car could have come with this trans and bellhousing you should be able to find the right bellhousing pivot if the F-body piece is different. SlantSixDan can probably help since he has a lot of factory parts books. |

is the overdrive any good for performance on the street or is it more of a econmical and crusing transmission? |

Most people like the "close ratio" tranny so they don't have too many RPM drops between gears. The A-833OD is a wide ratio tranny so you have to rev up a bit to keep the rpms in the power band while upshifting (there's about a 1000-1500 rpm drop in the low 3 gears and a 500 rpm drop or so in the 3-OD shift depending on your rear gearing). The "good" thing about the tranny is the OD gear, and it can help depending on your car's setup with either mileage, or power or both. Currently I run the OD with a 3.55 rear gear, and it has great pickup through the bottom 3 gears, but I can shift into OD and still get good mileage during cruise mode(in essence, you can run drag gears, and still be able to afford the gas in many instances). -D.Idiot |

For performance the A388-OD stinks. The RPM drop between gears is pretty bad. It's just like a 3 speed plus an overdrive. I had a '66 Dart with a Comp 264° cam, 390 Holley on a Clifford intake, etc and the overdrive. Switching to a standard 4 speed was one of the best things I ever did for the car.
