Somewhere along the line I heard that the early A-body convertibles had different motor mounts than the hard top cars.Is this true? If so anybody know the difference between the two. Thanks in advance. JZ |

Yep, the '63-'66 A-bodies had a different RH (passenger) engine mount. It is physically identical to the non-convertible item, dried-up on the aftermarket years ago, and plenty of folks use the regular RH mount on convertibles without any problem. I don't know for sure, but I suspect the special convertible mount was made of a different (harder or softer) rubber to damp out some vibratory noise that occurred with the convertible and not with the closed cars. Anyhow, the forthcoming urethane mounts from Imperial Services will be better than any of the factory mounts for the '62-'66 cars, including convertibles. |

Thanks Dan. I just put some new mounts on the Dart (conv)for the umpteenth time.The motor seems a little low on the right side.Seems like the motor mount on that side could be a little thicker,raising the motor a scosh. Can you adjust the height of the motor or is it a fixed height? Waiting on Imperial mounts myself. Thanks JZ |

You can shim the motor mounts with...just about anything, really! A cut-to-size wooden shim would hold up longer, probably, than these cruddy Indian-made (or Indonesian, Chinese, etc.) mounts that are about all we can buy nowtimes. I think Imperial are going to do well with their new mounts when they get them on the market. |

Johnny, you might have a shorter motor mount intended for a V8, or a cruddily-made one as Dan mentioned. I had one once that let the oil pan juuuuusssttt sit on the K-member. Vibration City. The right mount fixed it up! |

Santa maria!!!!! I am going to have to check that out,as I am having a noise(knock) coming from the front right somewhare on hard acceleration. Thanks slantvaliant. |
