I have had big valve machine work done and was wondering if it is beneficial, flow wise to plug the egr passages, and if so how to go about this.
I am about to get my long rod engine done, finally!!!
Thanks!
Bill

I've heard of aluminum being poured into Pontiac Heads for the same thing.....

Haven't done it myself, so I don't know how well it works.....

That sounds logical. I am not trying to get every last ounce of power, but thought if it would make a slight gain, I might as well address it when it is easy....the first time!
Thanks!

Those aren't EGR holes, they're air injection holes. No reason to plug 'em at each individual port, just install the blockoff plate at the injection point (rear of head on the manifold-mounting surface).

Note that heads without the air injection passages weigh less.

Weight isn't that big of a concern, as the engine is going into a pickup....I have the plug installed.
Thanks for the replies!
