Post subject: | Installing crank gear |
Hey guys I am about to start wrapping up my timing chain swap out and I would like to know, what is the preferred method of installing a new crank gear? I want to make sure I have it on straight. I was thinking of using a large socket but I don't have one big enough to clear the crank key. |

I use a long V8 crank bolt and washer, and draw it down. |

I heat the crank gear up with a propane torch or stick it on my camp stove for a bit, pull my leather gloves out and slip it over the crank snout, then let it cool down for a while. -D.idiot |

This works great especially if you're working in cramped quarters - it will slip on by hand. |

I heated it on the camp stove for five minutes and it slid right on. |
