Well, since is more cheap a Supercharger than a Turbo Charger, and recently I was able to salvage a good Carter BBD and found a good junkyard with a lot of parts, the owner told me that there are some superchargers laying down that I can use for my Duster, but wich is the correct one? Also, what else I will need to complete the setup? a Intercooler will be needed? |

I dn't think a BBD would be very good blowthrough carb (Is that what you are planning on using). Not enough needle seat area. I would go with a small rotary tuple supercharger. mOre mounting options and flexibility. |

Ok Jeb, but the thing here is that my resources are some abbandoned, crashed cars, that supercharger is used in stock form in any american brand cars? |

some gm 3.8's were supercharged. some thunderbirds too. both of those are roots type. good luck tophat |

Wich carb would work well for this project? I also got a QJet that needs some rebuild, I think I can make a new intake manifold for this carb, but a four barrel will work better for this? |

P.I.T.A?, also, what was the formula to determine the CID of a engine by its liters? you know, a 3.7 liters engine is a 225 CID, what was the formula used for this and viceversa. |

IMHO the most annoying problem with the factory Eaton blowers is that the intake is either at the rear of the housing, or curved away to one side, but still not in a useful position for a blow-through since the carb must either be above the blower (hood won't close), or same height (mix must go up-hill to enter the blower). A side-draft like Weber DCOE or SU should help here - the HS6 has been used on draw-through many times. Blow-through is easier, since you only need a good filter on the intake side, but now you need to make a discharge box that matches the blower's lower surface (typically a rectangle) and becomes a funnel to end at your manifold. |

As far as I know, all the factory supercharged setups, that used the Eaton blower, are "blow thru" EFI systems. It seems to me, I read that these blowers do not like to have fuel going thru them, as is a draw thru.

I ve done a little reseach on water injection through the Eaton blower. This theroy that the veins would be eroaded or buildup of calsuim buy the water was found to be false. (at least in the end that was the general concence). Fuel might be a different story that I am not awair of. |

mmmm......seing those replies, it looks like putting a supercharger will be a real P.I.T.A. (Thanks for the new term ), since I got a lot of gears and tubes sitting here, I was thinking in making my own supercharger like thingy, trying to make up to 3 or 4 psi, so my 2 barrel won´t get surpased. I will make a desing in paper and them scan it. |

I am presently installing a Vortec centrifugal supercharger on my 64 Dart. I was going to use a Paxton but I came across a Vortec and decided it would be the better of the two. Centrifugal blowers are more efficient than roots type and are easier (relatively) to make mounting brackets for and to make into a "blow through" type. A Paxton has it's own oil but a Vortec needs to have oil lines installed. I will be using a Demon "blow-through ready" carb. If I had to make a carb decision again I would go with a proffessionally prepared Holley since the Demon was P.O.S (Piece of -fill in the rest). It was an ebay side deal so it may have been a factory second. I will be posting pictures hopefully within the week as soon as my bracket pieces get welded up. So far it has cost me ~ $1200 in parts. The blower is used but in good shape. I think the improvement in power should be well worth the investment but I enjoy putting it together as much as going fast. You will need: Blower brackets Pulley adapter belt tensioner carb carb hat 3" pipe cone air filter boost ignition (MSD BTM) boost referenced fuel pump boost gauge 10+ trips to the hardware and autoparts store Being pinned to your seat for 11 seconds... Priceless! |
