i have a stomberg 2 barrel off a '65 newport. the foot print is a little bigger, 1/2" different longways as far as total length. would it be worth putting on a stock 225 with a header and 2 1/2" exhaust? |

With a stock cam that Stromberg is likely a little on the large side. The smallest engine Chrysler put a similar carb on was a 360. I'd run something else for which you can buy tuning parts. |

I wrote a quick article over at .com with some nice pics about what you can adapt quickly and what works. The Stromberg, large Carter BBD, Holley 2210/2245 don't fit without a homemade adaptor and aren't readily setup for our little engines. There are a few ways to get more carb on the super six intake: Stock BBD is really the easy plug and play (or Holley 2280 as a second choice). Next you can use a Mr.Gasket 1937 adaptor and use a Holley 2300/2305 (late Ford's, summit racing/etc...) preferrably a set with the economaster venturies for better signal/more restriction with the stock cam and valves, you can also use that adaptor to fit a staged Weber off a Vega or Pinto (Holley 5210/5220) and mess with that... As always you will be on your own to make a properly functional kickdown linkage and accelerator cable/adaptor...and you also will spend some time 'tuning' the carb (rejetting, setting the idle, setting the pump shot, etc...) good luck, try the stock way to go first and then when time permits I'd play with the other combinations once you know you can reverse it, or can live without the car for a while while dialing it in... -D.Idiot |
