OK guys the race is on. Oct 14th Piedmont Dragway. Here is a link to the track website. http://www.piedmontdragway.com/ Here are directions to the track.http://www.piedmontdragway.com/directions/ This race will be the same as Farmington show put on by the same club. As long as you enter another class you get free entry into the slant six points race. Payout for Piedmont will be the same as Farmington and Leighton & Judy Drake are offering the same cash incentives as before for 1/8 records. $100 if you reset an existing record and $50 for an open record. Unlike Farmington, Piedmont is not running a test and tune session on Friday night. Their normal TnT night is Thursday. That is not to say if enough people express interest in one on Friday night they might have one. So drop them an email an ask.... you never know. I have a call into the track to find out if if we will be allowed to camp at the track on Friday night. I will post the info as soon as I know. We will have our own pit area so look for signs or ask when you arrive. |

OK. Seymour has been burning up the phone lines between MN and all points southeast and an agreement has been reached. We will run the re-scheduled Bristol event on Saturday at Piedmont and save everyone the suspense and expense of returning to Bristol. The plan is we will get two practice runs in Slant 6 and then start the first race. (You will also get practice runs in the other race class you entered) Hopefully there will be time between the two races to give everyone another practice run and then run the second race. By starting the slant 6 race early anyone that is a 1st round runner up will have the opportunity to run the normal race that they entered before the second race starts. This should be an exciting day and when the dust clears we will crown the 2006 pts winner. If you have any questions please let me know. |

This race is just for the cars that were at Bristol? I would not be able to run in it. Is this correct?

It was my understanding that since anyone would have been welcome back to Bristol all cars in attendance at Piedmont can run both races. See you there and drive safe. Tom |

Here is an option for TnT. Farmington dragway is running a Friday night TnT. For you guys driving by the track you could TnT there then come over to Piedmont once the session is over. Just a thought. |

About a week ago, (prior to learning of your other options) I wrote to Piedmont, asking if there would be any way to make a TnT available on a Friday night if enough people asked for it. The response arrived in my e-mailbox today:Quote: Erik,
Honestly, that seems extremely accommodating on their part. I was writing about the Friday night Test & Tune. I have talked with a couple other people who possibly might be interested. We could possibly do a private session if I could get 15-20 cars together at a cost of $20 apiece. This could be from 6-9 pm. Please let me know if you are interested in this so I can make arrangements for a few employees and track prep. Thanks for writing. Lynn/Piedmont Dragway ![]() It's now a bit last-minute, and I don't get an opportunity to check email very often like I used to... not to mention I've since figured out that I really do NOT have the time to travel to Piedmont this weekend anyway... but if there's a huge response in this forum in the next couple of days, at least I can pass along the message. (I suppose we could all write to Piedmont individually, but it would be more polite to wrap up all the responses, so I'm willing to do it for you all, assuming that makes sense. If you've got better ideas, let me know.) - Erik |

Interesting. They had responded to me that they would not. Since they have the rescheduled $50K Big Dog on Thrusday(their normal TnT night) they must be considering having one on Friday. I know that we will have 3 cars. Gary Bruner had called me asking about it and he plans to be there Friday night even if they do not have a session. So that would be 4 cars. Tom |

Well, I'm not going to make it. Just too many things to do on the car. I have been swamped with work this week, and could not spend any "daytime" hours on it. Guess it will have to wait till next season. |

Well, I was afraid of this... it seems like it's a great effort but a little too late. I asked them what information they would need, and by when...Quote:
Erik, I will need to know if you will have a minimum of 15 cars and I need to have at least 2 days notice so I can arrange for track prep and also an EMT. Please let me know as soon as you can. Thanks.
Oh well. Was a nice thought. Never hurts to try. Have a great weekend at the track, folks!- Erik |

It is looking like gooooood air and nice weather this weekend. Should be some new 1/8 mile slant six records established/reset. Anyone care to take a guess at who will set them? Seymour is bring the race car down, it will be nice to see him run that car.(if he can get out of the snow with the trailer ![]() Look forward to seeing everyone there....drive careful. Tom Drake |
