I searched for 10 minutes at least and couldn't find my answer so here goes...

Some knuckle dragging tow truck driver mangled my '67 Valiant's fuel tank. I have a nice tank from a '75 Duster. I know it's supposed to be 2 gallons smaller, but will it bolt in and will the fuel filler pipe fit? Everything else I can cope with.

That won't be a trivial swap. The tank straps don't run the same way, the filler pipe aperture is differently-placed and larger, the external dimensions aren't quite the same (esp. up at the top of the tank)...unfortunately, '67 is a one-year-only tank in A-bodies. But, if you have all the '75 parts (filler neck, straps and brackets, etc.) you might be able to make it work...not sure.

I pulled the 1967 Signet's tank and compared it to my 1974 Duster Spare tank...SAME size...the '67 only has the filler neck hole and the bunghole for the sending unit...whereas the 1974 tank has those holes and the cannister return line at the top of the tank.

The '75 will work, but cap the emissions leads, use your 1967 filler neck, and you might have to pull out the mig welder for a couple of seconds to make the 1975 tank straps work on the '67 (for those reading the thread out of curiousity, the '67 uses one belly strap not two "suspender" type straps).

Good luck josh,

Hmm, I'll give the '75 tank a try and see what happens. If it goes badly I'll likely just drop $200 on a new tank.
