Would I be correct to say that the factory V AC compressor will not fit a motor equipped with the Offy 2 single carb manifold? Might a rotary compressor as found on late F Bodies and M Bodies work instead? |

I would say most likely not. Here are some pics that might help you. ![]() [/img] |

Thanks for the pictures! I'd say even with the rotary compressor, AC not possible with the twin singles. Thanks again! |

Looks too tight with the factory brackets and compressor location. Maybe you could fabricate brackets that place the compressor lower, further to the driver's side? |

Might be able to cobble up some brackets and fit a rotary compressor where the power steering pump would go if the car had PS |

Be advised there are at least two different bracketry setups for the V-type compressor on the slant-6. The early-type brackets (I want to say up to '66, maybe a couple years later) mount the compressor closer to the engine block; the later brackets move it several inches farther over towards the driver's side. When I used late-type brackets in my '65, it put the left outboard compressor head bolt into the battery case. I could've solved this with a smaller/different battery, but never got around to it. It also does seem to me that one or another type of round-body compressor could be mounted on a "block hugger" type bracket down under the manifolds, where the DC generator was mounted on '60-'62 cars so equipped. |

newer, smaller compressors from modern cars? old style AC won't fit in mostnarrowa's engine bay (up to'67 I think) |

The old-style (V2) compressor was used in A-bodies with dealer or factory A/C starting in '62, actually...!
