Post subject:  rebuilt 225?????

i have a '61 d1oo pickup that i just fixed up (body). i am now debating the wisdom of rebuilding the engine that was in it or getting a rebuilt one. the prices of rebuilding it, may make it cheaper to buy. if so, where can i get a good rebuilt one.
thanks,
fikey

I debated the same thing. But after hearing a few horror stories about "remanufactured" engines, and knowing I'll be driving my Dart for the rest of my life, I decided to have mine rebuilt. The confidence I have in my machine shop and the parts I'm buying carry more weight to me than a rebuilder's warranty.

There is nothing more frustrating than installing a remanufactured engine with a 12k warranty and it did't drive 1 foot when you replaced it with another one that may have the same problem. If you have the ability and the time, do it yourself and you will know exactly what was done and what components were used. If not, find a reputable machine/ engine shop and have them do it. Remanufactured engines are ofter more trouble than they are wirth even if you got it for free.
