Alright guys, my new Dart is home but there are some issues that I would like to address immediately. 1) First and foremost, the temp gauge does not work! I put a brand new sending unit in the head so I know it's not that. Is it likely that the guage is just busted? If so, is it likely that I could fix it with some attention? I've been reading other posts about cleaning circuit boards and connections and I'm definitely capable of doing that. 2) To get it home, I put a 16 lb. radiator cap on and just hoped the system was doing its job. I found that coolant would spurt out of the overflow nipple when I gassed it or when I would push on the upper radiator hose. I don't have an overflow tank on there right now and I'm just wondering if this behavior is normal. I'm going to pull the overflow tank off my GTO for the time being. NOTE: Don't worry boys, I'm just as concerned about cross-contamination as you are and I guarantee it's only temporary... 3) The gas gauge also does not work! Actually, I just discovered that when I fill the tank it sits on 1/4. Otherwise it's parked on empty. Is there something in the gauge itself that loses calibration or is this a drop-the-tank-and-replace-the-sending-unit operation? Ok, I think that's enough for one post but there will be more. Oh yes, there will be more... |

The temp & gas guage get power from the same curcuit, so there could something to that part of it. There should be a Voltage regulator on the back of the guage assy that could be bad or just lost conection. The water coming out of the ogverflow just by squezing the upper hose sounds alittle odd, almost sounds like its got the wrong cap & not seating all the way down in the neck, or maybe a problem with the seat down in the neck.
