Post subject:  Cool old van I saw

I was driving to a job site yesterday when I saw this rather cool looking old Dodge Van parked in a vacant lot with a for sale sign in the window. It was orange with the short wheel base. I can't really place the year. Had I not been following someone, I might have stopped, not that I need another vehicle or one to put more money into. But this thing really stood out. If anybody in the Raleigh, NC area needs a project, it's on the corner of New Hope Rd and New Bern Ave (Bus HW-64).

Want me to stop and look at it for you?
I don't have a camera.
But I might be able to borrow one.

Did it look anything like mine?

Nah. I think it had a more protruding nose.
Although, I was going 45-55mph and following someone.
So it may be totally unlike what I think I saw.
I do know it was a Dodge.

That's what mine is - '69 A108 cargo - but I put window doors on the passenger side and rear so it's no longer a pure "cargo" rig.
As far as "project", - well since I put the rebuilt motor in along with the rebuilt automatic and got rid of the 3-on-the-tree, and the bodywork and paint, it's not quite the project it used to be!
Still not perfect yet - only runs 20.12 at 68mph on the strip - but I am putting all the blame on the dang Holley 500 I have on it right now.

What are the particulars on your "project"?
Price etc. ?
I got family in the Herndon area and other areas of VA - might convince one of them to grab it for me if it's worth thinking about!

Anyway, good luck with yours.
Later,
Dan

If it wasn't a "Project" I would consider it. I'm looking for one that does not need a ton of work. Too many projects already. Thanks for the info though. :D

This project needs some rust repair, gas tank, recored radiator and driveshaft installed. PO (from NC) said the motor ran pretty good from a gravity-fed bottle (no gas tank). I've rebuilt the ENTIRE brake system: new F/R wheel cylinders, MC, shoes, hoses and steel lines with silicon brake fluid. Since I have way TOO many other projects (4 65 A Bodies - Dart GT convert, Dart station wagon, Valiant Signet convert and Barracuda) plus honey-do projects and work, the van and a 65 Coronet convert are going. Have had no luck in selling either, so am currently parting the Coronet and when done will part the van. Got $800 in the van.

Nahh, very nice of you to offer, but thanks anyway . I already have a '67 A-100 that I've been slowly fixing up. I don't talk about it much here since it's a v-8. Really freakin' fun to drive! :D
