Hi folks, I am getting seriously conflicting data from various sources about the distance, in inches, from the tranny front/bellhousing contact back to the about where the shifter handle is on a T5. I was getting out of the notion of using a T5 because I was told that dimension was 21 inches. My A833OD is about 13 inches and at that dimension, I had to rebend my shifter handle in a bearing press so the handle and ball would work the range needed between my truck bench seat and dashboard. I have seen published diagrams for the T5 dimensioning and they seem to vary also. Any of you know the real story on that length? rock '64d100 |

i am no expert on t5's Other will chime in to offer more help here, But the t5 was used in a bunch of applications - It could be possible that it's like the 833 where there was more thatn 1 Shifter Placement. Greg |

Here is a link to the Ford T5 dimensions: http://www.ddperformance.com/images/t5dia.jpg I'm sure there are GM dimensions on the web somewhere too. Lou |

The T-5 from a S-10 pickup or Blazer two wheel drive is proabably the animal you are looking for it has the shifter placed directly after the gear case, at the front of the tail shaft housing. The Ford and GM cars like Mustang and Camaro have the shifter located at the the end of the tailhousing. I am not sure what bellhousing bolt pattern is needed for the swap but I am pretty sure the the parts are interchaingable. |
