Car in question:
'77 Dodge Aspen with 225 Super Six and A833 (code D24 in fender tag).

Should a car like this be stored for future generations, or should I buy it for daily driving?

Drive it before it rusts to the ground.

Pretty common combination, and future generations will likely not care much about them in terms of interest or dollars, so, yeah, drive it before it dissolves into a pile of red dust.

Save your old oil from the oil changes and Put it in a rustproofing gun and spray the bottom of it wild!! It wont rust then - Mine hasnt' and I drive it in the Pittsburgh Salt every Winter for 11 Years.

I had one of those on my Duster, it was called a leaking rear main, oil pan, valve cover, and timing chain cover. It "spray" the bottom of the car with about a quart of oil every time I drove it.

Well, this is the one with no rust :D. Repainted last summer.

You don't happen to have any production figures to proof your arguments, do you?

Edit: I posted this thread in this transmission section, 'cause the crucial point in defining rarity of this particular car in my opinion was the four on the floor OD-transmission, but please, feel free to move it to some more appropriate section.

Post subject:  Not that rare...

No real production numbers on that combo (it would matter if the car was an Aspen R/T with a 360...then it would be documented...). I used to come across that combo a fair amount in the junkyards, it's the kind of car I'd pay about $150 to pull the slant and tranny combo for a transplant into an A-body...

I would keep it. Manuals are a blast to drive and the overdrive will let you put some deep gears in the back and still get good mileage.

I wish my car had one in it.
