Post subject:  Groan From Steering Column

There is a groan coming from my steering column when i turn the wheel. I have sprayed some WD-40 up the column from inside the engine bay and it will go away but there is still a feeling of friction inside the column that feels like it comes from the area around the column shift.

Any ideas on how to remedy this? I've been reading the factory service manual but haven't found anything yet.

I'd like to know the fix for this, too. :?:

So far I just gooped some grease up in there.

It looks like this:

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I had some groaning after taking my column in and out... I noticed one thing - where the column bolts to the firewall, the holes in the column are enlarged, seemingly to allow for adjustment. I had less groan when adjusting it so that the shaft is centerd in the column. If you look at the pic in the post you can see the shaft is nearly touching the side of the column.
