What insurance companies can you all recommend for these cars? We had our Duster appraised at $12, 000. My wife wants comp/collision on it (it's her baby). We hooked up with Farmers--the agent had his MoPar at a car show--but we're getting jerked around on premiums. Some how, I think we can do better, esp. since bofus have clean records. Would appreciate any positive experiences. Thank you. |

I use American Collectors Insurance. (800-360-2277) They were "subcontacted" through Amica insurance which is a very good insurance company. I pay about $90 a year. Yes a year. This is for $10,000 agreed value. But there are restrictions. Mile limited to 2500 a year, must be garaged, drive to car shows and the occational pleasure drive. You need a good record. |

I use Haggerty (Antique/Classic Car) Insurance, $124 a year, on my '66 Chevelle appraised at $15,000- similiar regulations as Bren67Cuda904 stated, no mileage cap though with Haggerty- My Mopar currently "a work in progress" is not registered or insured. But when complete, it will be a 'daily driver' driven by my 17 yr. old daughter- I'll probably have to take out a second mortgage to pay for that policy! especially here in the NY / tri-state area... |

down here you ay anything starting at 1% of the value of the car, up to 5% if it's a "classic". |

Here's my vote for Haggerty. They've always been courteous, professional and efficient for me. ($12K...? What are the specs on this Duster?) |

I've got no experience with "classic" car insurance, but State Farm has always been more than good to me and my family for the stuff we mess with. I will say that my family has a long-standing grudge against Farmers, as a family friend got seriously screwed over in the 80's. Might be better now, but I wouldn't put my money on it or trust them to pay my medical bills. I think someone jokingly suggested GEICO, but for the record, my sister's Maverick got hit by someone who had GEICO, and they were a pleasure to work with. Gave a settlement that was probably worth more than the car, and didn't even total it. |

Quote: GEICO?[
Absolutely not. Giving that company so much as a nickel is tantamount to screwing yourself and every other driver in the US.

You sound like good, honest people -all I can say is please look into all options dilengently and do your homework carefully, insurance companies can be tricky. You will want to look beyond flashy pamphlets and pie graph. You want a company that is going to financially protect you with special emphasis on medical- being the most important Good luck |
