Is it the same problem at the same pump? I don't own a 'Cuda, but I seem to have different luck at different pumps. Some seem more over-sensitive than others. Besides, I'd prefer to blame somebody else's crappy pump than blame my precious Mopars...

i have quit driving my 65 B'cuda. it takes a very delicate hand and 20 minutes to get 7 gallons of gas into it! any ideas? i have seen this discussed on this board, but no real solutions. i am ready to pull the tank and put in a fuel cell and fill it by opening the trunk! car sits now and will remain sitting until i can figure out a way to get gas into it! sb |

that would be my first guess...but the tank has been out, the vent is clear, its a well known issue with early a-bodies, but i didn't know it was going to be like this! sb |

Sometimes my wife's Honda does this, especially if the pump handle has a very sensitive "kickoff" on it. The solution for me has been to simply pull the pump nozzle back out of the filler tube by about two inches or so, leaving only the last three inches in the filler tube. This seems to let me fill the car at full pressure, yet it still kicks off at the right point. -Mac |

Isn't. The only well-known issue with fuelling A-bodies is that you have to ease-up on the nozzle trigger as the tank approaches full capacity to avoid a splash when the tank is full. Having to trickle in the fuel an ounce at a time is not a "known issue" on A-bodies. Something's the matter with your car. Fuel filler pipe blocked or improperly installed, something like that.

Go to the trunk and pull out any sufficient length tool. Walk over to whatever idiot is topping off and apply said tool to their head/hands until the quit. |

oldgoat83 - huh?  after re-reading the old post about regurgitation, i decided i had a problem. so, i took a piece of galvanized wire and tried to put it down the filler neck. i got it down to the fuel, BUT with great difficulty. i go back into the garage, get a flashlight, and i see an obstruction in the filler neck...a NEW to me filler neck, btw. someone had some fun with me. look what i pulled out:  apparently someone stuck that in there between the time i installed my tank and i got a gas cap. i love people. btw, i had to drop the tank, take the filler neck out, knock the rock out of the neck and reinstall. yeah, but 7 gals of gas went in just like on my wife's 05 Liberty. sb |
