| Post subject: | tranny fluid in coolant? |
i noticed that my radiator overflow tank had black residue in it. being that i had just put in a new engine i was concerned it had not been properly rebuilt. however, i simultaneously found that the connections from the transmission to the radiator were loose, causing tranny fluid to be sprayed all over the inside of the engine bay, which led me to believe that it was tranny fluid i was seeing in the overflow tank. being ignorant of the transmission cooling system, i am concerned that there is transmission fluid in my coolant. how can i check for this? |

Tocheck: Drain cooling system, refill and flush with a cleaner, drain and refill with clear water. Operater the engine for a while and check for recontamination. DD |

Is the radiator new? The only explanation I can think of for this is there is a hole between the tranny cooler and the radiator tanks in the radiator. |
